ploby Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Hello I'm new here and looking for a bit of advise,I have a 51 mrk2 1.9 td galaxy ghia.It started a couple of weeks ago when I pulled up to my house,I went to switch the ignition of and pulled the keys out and the engine to my surprise was still running,so I tryed a few times to switch the engine of and no luck,so I just stalled the car but after that it wouldn't turn over put there was still power as the dash lit up.so I disconnected the battery for a bit then reconnected then all was well again, until yesterday where it happened again but this time disconnecting the battery didn't help either.so I got my breakdown to come out to look at it,I told him what happened and reconnect the battery and it started but again would not switch off.he looked at fuses and checked a few things but couldn't get to the bottom of it,I asked him if it could be a relay as I quick search on the net brought up a fault on relay 30 but this seems to be on petrol galaxies.he said it could be but also he thought maybe the barrel but said he didn't think it was the barrel as it would start after disconnect the battery and making a connection between the live and negitive terminals but just wouldn't turn off.so of he went and I just left thebattery off as I didn't want a flat battery.this morning had to take the Mrs to work,so connected the battery and away we went, got home tryed turning the engine off and to my surprise of it went as nothing had happened,so I'm thinking it might be this relay thing, any help please as I know little but not the best round cars.thanks.
